FOUNDER Jumpshot Basketball Academy is founded by Ms Esther Quek, a former member of the Singapore National Women’s Basketball Team as well as an experienced coach who has amassed numerous accolades and titles in both her playing and coaching career. She has led her teams in victory in every form of competition, including five consecutive zonal and national championships in her years in secondary school. She also represented Singapore in the 1st Asian Youth Championship in Hong Kong in 1994, and was named the Most Outstanding Player in that competition. Coach Esther had entered the national team at the tender age of 14 and has also accumulated seven titles in her time playing in the Singapore Women’s Open Basketball League. Having captained and coached teams at every level of competition, Coach Esther has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and immense passion for the game. She is a highly qualified coach who is currently seeking to expand her coaching repertoire through the pursuit of a Degree course in Sports Coaching at the University of Wolverhampton. Coach Esther has also organised numerous basketball events within Singapore, from 3-on-3 competitions to exhibition games with international teams to various basketball courses and clinics, and possesses much expertise and experience with regards to effective planning and execution of events. She has also founded two basketball magazines and an online basketball website, and is certainly does not lack for knowledge of the game. Coach Esther believes in the potential innate within every student, and seeks to maximise it through a caring and individualised approach that will stretch each student to his or her limits as a player and also as a person, instilling in them strong basketball fundamentals as well as a real love for the game.
