Singapore Slingers celebrated the first win in the ASEAN League season. They held off visiting Thailand Slammers for 1-1 record. Graham Louis (205-F/C-84, agency: Z.A.G. – Law Offices) stepped up with 23 points and 15 rebounds to pace the hosts.
The teams stayed close throughout the opening quarter. The hosts snatched a narrow 16:15 lead after ten minutes of action. The defending champions bounced back in the second quarter. The Slammers went on a 21:9 run to ensure a 36:25 halftime lead. But the third term turned things upside down. The Slingers triggered a wild 27:11 surge to pull ahead for a 5-point advantage. The visitors seemed shock and could not recover in the final quarter. The Slingers roared to the victory in the fourth stanza. Wei Jie Desmond Oh notched 16 points, while Dulay Donald (173-G-80) and Little Donald (211-C-78, college: Cincinnati) added 10 points each for the winners. DeAndre Thomas (203-C-86, college: Robert Morris) answered with 27 points and 8 rebounds for the Slammers. Kenneth Walker (206-F/C-80, college: Alabama) finished with 15 points and 16 boards in the loss.
