Best Players Of Japanese BJ League Round 24 –

Carlos Dixon had an amazing evening in the last round for Fukuoka Rizing and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com BJ League Player of the Week award for round 24. The 30-year old swingman had the game-high 32 points adding five rebounds and five assists for Fukuoka Rizing in his team's victory, helping them to beat Shimane SM (#6, 12-10) 93-88. Fukuoka Rizing maintains the 5th position in Japanese BJ League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Fukuoka Rizing will need more victories to improve their 15-7 record. In the team's last game Dixon had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Fukuoka Rizing's top player in his first season with the team. Virginia Tech graduate has very impressive stats this year. Dixon is in league's top in assists (6th best: 2.7apg) and averages solid 54.0% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 30-year old American swingman Dexter Lyons (198-F/G-81, agency: I.D.S. Law) of Miyazaki SS. Lyons impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he lead Miyazaki SS to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Takamatsu FA (#9, 1-21) 103-66. Miyazaki SS's 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 10-12 record. Lyons is a newcomer at Miyazaki SS and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. The third best performed player last round was American Zack Atkinson (206-C-86) of Oita H.Devils (#8). Atkinson scored 15 points and grabbed twenty rebounds (!!!). Despite Atkinson's great performance Oita H.Devils lost 63-87 to the higher-ranked Okinawa GK (#1, 17-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Oita H.Devils can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 4-17 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Atkinson he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Atkinson has a very solid season. In 21 games in Japan he scored 7.4ppg. Other top performing players last week: 4. Michael Parker (202-F-81) of Shimane SM - 24 points and 16 rebounds 5. Lee Roberts (201-F/C-87) of Shinshu BW - 19 points, 20 rebounds and 2 assists 6. Johnny Dukes (203-F-84) of Sendai 89ers - 23 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists 7. Anthony McHenry (202-SF-83) of Okinawa GK - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists 8. Dionisio Gomez Camargo (203-F-80) of Shiga L-Stars - 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Derek Raivio (190-G-84) of Shinshu BW - 24 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Lewis Witcher (207-F/C-87) of Miyazaki SS - 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM) Via (Asia Basket)
