Andrews’ Double-double Lands Him BJ League Player of the Week Award

25-year old power forward Zachary Andrews (203-F/C-85) put on an amazing game in the last round for Niigata Albirex and receives the Asia-basket.com BJ League Player of the Week award for round 19. He had a double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds, while his team beat Shimane (#6, 8-11) 77-70.

Niigata Albirex is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings.

Andrews turned out to be Niigata Albirex’s top player in his first season with the team. The Bradley University graduate has had very impressive stats this year. Andrews is one of the league’s top rebounders (5th best: 10.7rpg) and averages solid 2.2spg and 65.3% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Gary Hamilton (208-F/C-84) of the league’s second-best, Shiga Lakestars. In the last game Hamilton recorded an impressive double-double of 26 points and 22 rebounds but unfortunately lost to the lower ranked Akita, 82-100.

Kibwe Trim (208-F/C-84) of Kyoto Hannaryz came in third, scoring 24 points and grabbing thirteen rebounds. He was a key player in Kyoto Hannaryz, leading his team to a 117-88 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Toyama Grouses.
